Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg sued Rep. Jim Jordan today (Tuesday)
The lawsuit is 50 pages long and was filed in the Southern District of New York
This is an extraordinary move
Intended to keep congressional Republicans from interfering in the office's criminal case against Trump
His lawsuit comes after weeks of escalation and sparing with Jordan and other Republican law makers
And had warned them to not interfere
Bragg seeks to halt a house judiciary committee inquiry that he says is a “transparent campaign to intimidate and attack” over his indictment of Trump
Bragg also alleges "an unconstitutional attempt to undermine" his investigation.
Bragg is asking a judge to invalidate subpoenas that Jordan (the committee chair) has issued or is planning on issuing as part of an investigation on Bragg's handling of the case
Specifically, they are looking to bar Jordan and other Republican House members from enforcing a subpoena sent to Mark F. Pomerantz, who was a leader on the DA's Trump investigation but has since left the office
US District Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil (Trump appointee) declined today to take immediate action on the law suit
She scheduled a hearing on April 19th in Manhattan
Day before committee plans to question under subpoena a top former prosecutor who was involved in the Trump case
