Texas AG Ken Paxton was acquired of all 16 charges today (Saturday)

• He originally faced 20 charges

• 21 of 31 were needed to convict. No article received more than 14 votes

  • Two republicans voted to convict

He was immediately reinstated

• He was last reelected last year by a large margin

Angela Paxton (a State senator) was not allowed to vote

• She did attend all two weeks of the trial

• The trial did involve (indirectly) an affair

All but two GOP senators consistently voted to acquit

Ken Paxton was absent for most of the proceedings and did not attend the verdict

• He did not testify

Paxton still faces trial on felony securities fraud charges and is also under a separate FBI investigation and is in jeopardy of losing his ability to practice law in Texas
