Two of the Three democratic members referred to as the Tennessee Three were expelled for their roles in a demonstration supporting gun control
Rep. Justin Jones was first
He was expelled 72-25
Rep. Gloria Johnson next
She was survived the vote 65 - 30
One vote short of the needed 2/3 of the 99 seat chamber needed to expel her
This shocked some democrats
Rep. Justin Pearson was last
He was expelled 69-26
They might not be gone for too long
County commissions and local government in their districts get to appoint the replacements in their district who will serve until a special election can be schedule
Any expelled lawmaker would be eligible for appointment
They would also be eligible to run for the special election
Under Tennessee constitution lawmakers cannot be expelled for the same offense twice
